VERSION HISTORY
• 1.2.1 (November 4, 1996)
This is a maintenance version which fixes several bugs in eDOC Reader 1.2:
- a bug which prevented entering any numeric characters (1-9) when editing the Index entries text has been fixed.
- Up and Down arrrow keys are now working properly when pressed quickly several
times.
- some display bugs with small size documents have been fixed
Minor changes have be also been done in the documentation.
• 1.2 (October 12, 1996)
Version 1.2 is a functional upgrade which provides three main new features:
- new Index function in eDOC Reader. This option can be used to build a Table of Contents either manually or automatically (based on Font/Style/Size) or simply to add bookmarks. Index can be displayed from self-reading documents, too.
- new "Find in Index first" option in eDOC Reader and self-reading documents, which provides an ultra-fast access to indexed items
- new "Append to Existing File" option in eDOC Creator
Other changes:
- self-reading documents can now be opened from eDOC Reader by dragging them to the eDOC Reader icon (previous eDOC users may have to rebuid their desktop)
- accuracy of text extraction has been improved.
- the Window menu has been removed from eDOC Reader. The list of open documents is now displayed at the bottom of the View menu.
- a custom version of eDOC Creator is available, which creates self-reading documents with a full German Interface. This custom version is not available in the public package, but can be sent on request to registered users who do need it. It will also be provided to new German/German-speaking users on receipt of their registration fee.
• 1.1.2 (March 7, 1996)
- new printing options in eDOC Reader and in self-reading eDOC documents :
* Odd Pages or Even Pages only (mainly to support printing on both sides of paper)
* Back To Front
* Scale to Fit (the printed page will be scaled to fit the printable area)
- the “About” dialog in SRDs can be customized (read the documentation for more information)
WARNING: if you read a “new” SRD created from eDOC Creator 1.1.2 using an “old” eDOC Reader (1.1 or 1.1.1), there will be an error in the page number (one more page will be reported, and trying to read this imaginary additional page will display an alert).
- a crashing bug when trying to create eDOCs from "linked files" in MS Word as been fixed - you will still create one eDOC document from each of these linked files.
- accuracy of the default filename proposed by eDOC Creator when saving eDOC documents has been improved - there might still be some cases where you will not get what you would expect
- the right page arrow is now correctly dimmed at the end of a document displayed using the Double Page view
• 1.1.1 (December 23, 1995)

- self-reading documents can now be accessed from their aliases in the Standard Open dialog
- the ":" illegal character in the default filename is now automatically changed to "-"

- eDOC Reader can open both standards eDOCs and SRDs

NOTES
This software has been tested as much as possible and most problems which were noticed or which were reported should now be fixed. However, we are aware of some difficulties which may arise if you try preparing eDOCs from some applications using eDOC Creator.
• eDOCs obtained from applications which use EPSF or various bitmap formats are often bitmap pictures, from which you won't be able to find or extract text
• Graphics may not be included in eDOCs obtained from QuarkXPress. If this happens, you can try first using an other printer driver such as LaserWriter, do the appropriate settings in the print dialogs, launch printing and cancel it and then move back to eDOC Creator
• You won't be able to find text properly in eDOCs obtained from some applications, most often when the original text is justified (QuarkXPress, Pagemaker, MacDraw Pro and maybe others)
• CompuServe Navigator may crash if you cancel a “Print One” command
